I was recently gifted seeds, they are supposed to be from a Orchis italica, or italian man orchid. Now here's where Im getting confused. Normally orchid seeds are tiny like a speck or dusts but these seeds are about the size of a head pin. Not your typical orchid seed.
I guess my question is are they real or did the person who bought them as a gift for me get scammed.
I already have the medium in jars (just waiting to see if the batch I made doesn't grow spores) and I don't want to waste it on a seed that will never grow.
Definitely scammed. Orchis italica is a rare orchid and I dont think anybody has cultivated it at their house. Orchid seeds are also very tiny and white. Ask where they got the seeds.

Well that's not true.....they're certainly not common in the US but they are here.

As was mentioned, Orchis italica are rare in cultivation, but they are most definitely in cultivation, (particularly in certain parts of Europe and to a lesser degree, here in the US). The level of success in cultivating the plants are an entirely different story.
