Dendrobium Nobile yellowing from the bottom up?
Default Dendrobium Nobile yellowing from the bottom up?

First post! Hello!

I'm gonna throw in some glamour shots of my other orchids cause.. I'm proud of them

So I got this orchid in March, and all the flowers it has now were in bloom then. So I kind-of figured it would be normal for the flowers to be wilting at this point. But it's losing leaves from the bottom up, about one every week or two. This will be the fourth lost. There are some black deposits near the base of each leaf, which has me worried. I've looked at several different fungal infection guides, but this doesn't look like any of them to me -- unless maybe the plant is shedding leaves before symptoms show up? Also, the pseudo-bulbs look a little shrivel-y to me? Could over-watering be the problem? I was over-watering my Dendrobium Lindleyi, but that plant has since completely recovered and is sprouting three new flower stems

The Dendro. L. has had those black spots since I inherited it from my grandfather in February, and they haven't gotten any worse, thankfully!

I got the Phalaenopsis just the other day, so no worries there.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I'm super pumped to be a part of this community now!

Den nobile lose their leaves, mine is losing them now. You'll end up with the old canes leafless (but they may still flower in the future).

Den. nobile-types actually do most of their blooming on old, leafless canes... don't be in a rush to cut anything until you're sure it's dead. Those old canes, in addition to providing the flowers, provide nourishment to the plant.
