Ants, in themselves, may not be a problem to the plants but there is some sort of association with scale. At least here. According to the bug guy at a local nursery.

Gods yes, they associate with every damn sap sucker there is. However I have discussed it with mine, and if they bring in any, then I will be exceeding indiscriminate with the chemical megadeath.

They have been warned.

Thanks for the help! Good news though! I moved the pots and changed the media and they went away!! Finally my hands are freeeee!
