List of non-stinky bulbs?
I would like to get bulbophyllums but I don't want the stink! So can anyone make a list of not-as-stinky or even fragrant bulbophyllums? Are these stinky?
-Macranthum
-Biflorum
Thanks!

I grow my orchids in the home so I try to avoid the Bulbos that do not have a pleasant scent. Here are the ones that I have bought that are safe:
These either smell fruity, non-offensive or have no fragrance at all:
Bulbophyllum alagense
Cirrhopetalum auratum
Bulbophyllum pardolatum
Bulbophyllum laxiflorum
Bulbophyllum lasiochillum
Bulbophyllum blumei
Bulbophyllum ambrosia
Just a note: Many that are 'offensive' do not have a very strong odor and you must put your nose to the bloom to smell it. There are exceptions, though. Someone gave me Bulbophyllum carunculatum and I guess that one isn't very nice. We shall see....

Bulb. Lion King X annandeli (red Lip) has no scent at all. It's a hybrid though.

I think the "100 dead elephants" odor only applies to a small set of Bulbos, and only the Brave buy them. Other stinky ones smell faintly like cheese or dirty socks.

And some of the odors are subjective concerning whether you like them or your think they are foul. In my reading, some say that Bulbophyllum carunculatum isn't so bad after all.
I do not know anything about your two suggestions. Hopefully, someone else might know and give you an answer.

I'll add another (or three, depending on who you talk to).
Bulb. maxillare
There's also the very close, B. masdevalliaceum and B. blumei.
Some places list them all as one species others as separate. I have the maxillare which is scentless.

It is not like the neighbors will wonder if something is rotting in the yard. I had a so called smelly one, and you had to put your nose right up to it to smell any oder.

Bulbophyllum taiwanense
I took a sniff right into a B. Taiwanense flower and it had no smell whatsoever

There is also a subjectivity as to the ability to perceive a certain scent. Some folks just have more sensitive noses than others.

I have two, but neither has bloomed for me yet.
From what I've read, they aren't supposed to be too bad.
One is bulbophyllum rufinium, the other Bulb. Elassonotum. One I know is supposed to smell like crisp apples (elassonotum), the other (rufinium), I think, I read has little to no smell. I hope... lol
