Default Nelly Isler

Hello All,

It's been a while since I have posted due to moving to Delaware.
I hope to be able to attend an orchid society meeting , aso March snow stormed on us.

I recently received a Nelly Isler for my husband for my birthday from orchid Web. In spike, and two more spike forming.

Also purchased a den nobile from Tjs. I think it's a Den Bridal Red
" Celebration". Smells like roses.

I will post pictures once I able able too.

Once they finish blooming I plan to switch repot into clay pellets.

On another note.
My cates black magic and Fred after dark..... my kids misplaced the tags and I don't know how to identify each plant. I have them in water culture. One plant had a major case of spider mites due to the happy sap. I was finally able to control. I happy three new growths and one in dormancy. I would like to use seramis but I havery not been able to find it.

I also have three no id phals. New roots and leaves.

They are currently in my north facing window in my kitchen until I set up new locations for them.

Thanks All for reading

Welcome back!

You can't tell the Catasetum and Fredclarkea apart until they bloom. I would write out both labels and stick both of them into one pot. When one flowers you will be able to figure it out by looking at photos on the Internet.

I potted these up in a mix of lava rock and clay pellets.

From what I can see, it looks really healthy. I did not notice any black marks. The plant in general looks very good. It has many growths, nice leaves...it is a beautiful plant.
Nelly Isler is one of my favorite orchids. I love the color of the flowers. In the morning, it smells like a Tropicana rose. It takes about four or five days before it produces a fragrance but the blooms last a long time. It blooms two or three times a year, too, which is pretty nice.

Thanks Leafmite, hopefully I won't kill this one. Shipping was half as much. I love the parentage plants , I can't wait to see it in bloom!

Would northern exposure be enough? I only have north or southern and I can't do any other setup because my young children.

I plan on reporting after all the blooms has faded. Mix of hydropon and lava rocks.

I am actually growing mine in very small chips of red lava rock which I run under the faucet daily. The roots are doing well but it is such a pain to water it every day. I keep thinking about putting it in NZ sphagnum moss but then I look at the happy roots and relent.

Mine remains in a South-west facing window that is bright but never gets any direct light.

Thanks you for your links and information on how you grow yours.
I would have to buy smaller lava rocks, im interested in the seram is as well. I would use a plastic pot , as I do not like the water mineral buildup. My lava rock seems to stay more moist then my hydroton.

I think one of my windows should be ok. I have indirect sunlight for sure. And temps are to my home as well.
