Getting Rid of Moss
Is there a safe way to kill moss? The kind that grow in pots and on mounts. I hate them. Currently plucking them out, PIA.

How safe is safe? Physan 20 can be pretty hard on moss but generally safe on most orchids. Perhaps not killing a healthy patch of moss but inhibiting regrowth if you get it picked off well.

I can do Physan. Control is a start!
Thanks!

How about brushing the moss with a RoundUp dilution? Will RoundUp kill moss (I honestly don't know but it seems like it should)?

It might, but Physan is a whole lot less toxic. And if a "-cide' ... certainly pesticide but probably herbicide too - is diluted to be less toxic, it would be possibly also less effective, Then I would worry about creating resistance in whatever you're trying to kill.

I have a strong suspicion learning to love the moss will be less harmful to orchids in the long run than spraying on something to kill the moss.

Also true... in nature they grow with moss quite happily, at least for those that like to be damp.

Moss is an indicator of superb water quality. I'd be very happy if I could grow moss!
Just water a bit less.

Yeah. The only mounts that I have with moss growing are the sesquipedal, that likes a soggy moss ball to root in, and a couple of Phrags that I keep that bit wetter.
Can you keep your mossy orchid a bit dryer, or won't it stand for that?

I love moss and they only grow when I put my mounted orchids out door. When I bring them inside they die.
