Fairchild Gardens Orchid Show 3-10-17

, Greetings to all. I went to Orchid show (see title) on Friday 3-10-17, Fairchild is a beautiful place (Coral Gables , Fl), I understand you can take a tram around the property, I might go. I purchased 2 Paphs, one in bloom the Pirate Spice (hybrid-see attached) the other paph is only starting to bud (see attached), the name of this paph is moquetteanum 'yang-ji 'x anitum #1. I looked up the plant it should be multi-floral, dark purple. I'll have to wait to see what produces. Until then any comments would be appreciated.....Zoren.....

I've never heard of either but good luck and post when the budding one opens. The pirate looks cute and small.

Paph moquettianum is definitely multi-floral. It is sequential - opens one or two flowers, when they are spend more will open. On a healthy plant, this process can go on for many months. A real keeper!

Thank you Roberta, the moquettianum is growing fast the first bud is out of it's bud pod and the spike is moving with it. I seem to do well with sequential paphs and phrags, I'm also getting better at non-sequential paphs also. I know that these types of orchids don't have the flare that phals do (still waiting to see a spike on my phals), but they bloom so often and they are beautiful. That's why I like psychopsis also they bloom even more often, only problem is there are only about 5 genesis and it's hard to find mature plants of some of them (I have 3 types, maybe????).
