I have mine sitting in front of me (just ID'd it from the forums tyvm!). The first whiff is sweet but as it lingers it DOES smell bacon-like! That's hilarious.
I have a couple unidentified cattlyas that perfume the whole area with a strong fruit loop scent!

It is such a weird fragrance combination: raw bacon just out of the package and only sizzling in the pan a short while with floral overtones. And you're so right, the sweet component hits you first and then is followed up with the bacon.
For SUCH beautiful blooms, they're kinda stinky!
Sure am glad for the corroboration!

Having just come from the local orchid show, where I bought a Miltonia Yellow Ink Blot Carriage Horcs X Melissa Baker Independence Day. It is blooming and the scent is very strong in the morning, fading out by afternoon. I fell in luv.

Severtal oncidium alliance orchids have a wonderful scent. Izumi smells spicy. Then there are oncidium twinkles that have a wonderful scent. Most of all you Encyclias are fragrant, at different times of the day. A short plant which grows like a weed, Encyclia radiata. It smells like lemon honey and it's flowers look like green upside down shells. The radiatas are about to bloom soon. Many, many cattleyas will be fragrant. Some cats are fragrant in the morning, some in the afternoon, some not at all or some all the time. The list goes on and on, and my fingers could type for awhile. There's a red orchid in bloom right now that smells of coconut. There's a dendrobium parishii that smells like rasberries. The orchid grows down and it sheds the leaves. The famous one which blooms 3 X a year, Brassavola nodosa. It's nickname is 'Lady of the Night' The plant is fragrant in the dark!!!!
Happy Growing!

However, there are some to avoid!!! Sure, everyone knows about the multitudes of stinky bulbos, but I must warn you about a cute little plant called Miltonidium Pupukea Sunset. Emphasis on pupu! Not that it smells like that, but it does have an overpoweringly strong soap scent mixed with hot garbage. I gave mine away...gladly!

Something I've learned recently: Peristeria pendula is very heavily scented! Smells spicy, like cloves and can be smelled from across the entire yard! Amazing!!!

I hadn't really given much thought to scents but bought this Catt Marie Pia, a couple of weeks ago it has a delicate scent somewhere between vanilla and lillies.
Got to find myself one that smells like bacon
