My new Den. Spectabile has a gardinia-like scent during the afternoon. It's provided some air freshener to my house over the past few days when I had to bring my orchids inside due to the cold weather we've been having lately.

"WhiteRabbit" - Holcoglossums are pretty hardy plants.

That's a good purchase!

FSU Orchids - Nice! I've had my eyes set on Den spectabile for a while now. Dens in the Latouria section are one of my favorites.

Nice! I didn't know they had a nice fragrance. I only have a seedling.

:) I was quite tickled to find it (at a retail nursery chain, no less!), especially after I looked online and discovered that it was cool/cold to warm growing! That covers what it will get here! Pleased to say it still looks good. We'll see how it goes after I repot it...

I still can't get over how fabulous the fragrance is!

Here is one I bloomed about 1.5 mos ago and it is still in bloom. Pot. Paradise Ruby "sweetie". It is very fragrant and nothing like it that I've found. A vcery heady scent for sure. It is a cross between Pot. Hisako Akatsuka and Slc Wendy's Valentine.

Fdk. After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl'

Amazing sweet, spicy, musky scent of magical cloves.

And yeah, that's really what it looks like.

This one kinda broke me. My latent interest in fragrant orchids exploded into a full-on fixation. :blushing:

Oh, and Clowesetum Jumbo York:

Smells nicely lemony!

And my Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Bluebird' is marvelous. Almost like... jasmine cotton candy.

When I brought a Dendrobium kingianum home, I had to put the thing outside. It filled up the whole house to the point it was overpowering!

OOOO After Dark can be scented? I was lucky enough to see one a few months ago: a clone called 'Anya' owned by the guy from Assendorfer Orchids. Totally stunning, but I couldn't pick up a scent from it. It was placed a bit back on his display though, so maybe I just couldn't get close enough with other smelly orchids around!

Can't remember if it's been mentioned in this thread before, but a VERY strongly scented orchid is Cycnoches Wine Delight. Really does smell strongly of cherry cough syrup (with maybe a hint of blackcurrant and liquorice) at it's hight. I found mine while opening (which takes a few days) also went through stagnant water and roadworks but luckily not strong at that point!

The Stanhopeas and Catasetums are definitely good ones if you like strong scents...

Oh, yes. The spotted After Dark (which I bought because I couldn't afford the Black Pearl) isn't quite as strong, but also smells lovely. I've never smelled anything quite like it. Addictive. I'm not sure how powerful the fragrance from these is, if it would fill a room or not, but sniffing it up close was a bit dizzying.

That sounds lovely! I might have to get one!

And yeah... After taking one look at an image search of Gongora and Stanhopea, I know I am going to need to set up some hanging pots... I've never smelled a Stanhopea or Gongora in person, mind you, but I'm terribly excited to do so. I intend for my entire collection to be scented.

Another nice strong one from Sunset Valley Orchids was Cattleya Mini Purple x Cattleya violacea:

Unfortunately they are sold out, but I am watching for any similar plants I might come across.

I swear the Sunset Valley Orchids booth had a wider array of fragrances than all the rest of the Pacific Orchid Expo put together!
