I have an Epidendrum "ciliare" which is very very fragrant at night. Makes my whole house smell like an older ladies night out. Small white flowers which are spiderlike but very fragrant.

This is a really useful thread!

I've actually been interested in the same list since more and more I am leaning toward collecting fragrant orchids for my collection (which unfortunately has to be space-limited). From the links some of you supplied I was able to identify several fragrant plants I have but didn't know the name of. I also have a few zygopatelums that all started from the same plant and now they are filling the entire room with an exotic scent. I also have two Oncidium Sharry Babies which seem to be quite popular here in California as the "Chocolate smelling orchid". My wife agrees with the chocolate idea while I think they smell more like soap but very pleasant nevertheless. Looking over the photos on the "Fragrant Orchids" link that Dorothy posted earlier I see a Phaleonopsis - I didn't know there are fragrant Phals! Does anyone have one? What do they smell like?

here's a listing of fragrant Phals at Big Leaf - I'm sure there are many more, including many species - maybe post your question in the Phalaenopsis or Beginner forum to get some more replies

My first fragrant orchid is the Den Anosmum. It came in two clumps, wood-mounted and the gardener claims that the top bunch is the var. alba which have yet to flower.

My second is the Seidenfadenia mitrata which was bought without knowing what species of orchid it was, but it looks lovely on the wood mount and the flowers have yet to bloom. I had to get assistance to ID this orchid and really glad it turns out to be a scented one. Click on link to view the lovely photos.
