Here's one that I have in bloom right now and it has a wonderful smell.
Lc. Sagarik Wax 'NN' |
I like the Maxillaria tenuifolia it reminds me of a day at the beach

This list would not be complete without Bulbophyllum beccari whose sweet aroma has been compared to that of a herd of dead elephants. Apparently it's an acquired taste.

Is it normal for one bloom to be fragrant on a plant and another on the same plant not to smell at all?
Also as a bloom is opening the colour often developes over a day or two, does the fragrance do the same thing? Marion ps; My dens are blooming quite early this year but I've notice some of them aren't as fragrant as the usually are. |
Marion - I do know that it can take a couple of days - or a few days, for fragrance to "kick-in". Also some may be most fragrant early in the day, and the scent fades as the day wears on - while others are fragrant at night ...
