How expensive can the dart frogs get? I've never given thought to a vivarium before :D

from $40 up to ?????? for the newest and rarest. The cheapest I have I paid $40 each for, the most expensive, $150 each. But terrariums seem to be the easiest way for me to keep pleurothallids thriving, my P. allenii bloomed for 7 months straight, my restrepias bloom for multiple months straight, and all the bulbophyllums I get go in vivs so I don't have to smell them ;)

i'll think about vivarium or aquarium when i have smelly orchids. now i want to smell the orchids! i am thinking to collect bulbos now :) have one already, courtesy of my daddy :) don't tell him i killed the other two :(

We used to keep poison dart frogs. Watching them was so much fun. Raising the generations of wingless fruit flies to feed them was fine as long as you didn't want to travel. We never did find anyone willing to do it. I still miss them though. Beautiful creatures.

I have only seen the poison dart frogs at various botanical gardens in the green houses, but I would love to have them in my home collection in a viv as well. However, my partner made a comment yesterday (as I spent several hours repotting a few of my 'chids) about how much money I've spent over the last several months on my orchid paraphernalia... LOL... My theory is that you can't take the money with you when you die, so why not spend it on your favorite obsession, right?!?!? ;) But then again, we already spend a nice chunk of change on our joint venture in Creating Our Eden, so I must realize it must end somewhere!

P.S. Don't tell him I bought another orchid yesterday while I was supposed to be buying potting medium. I tucked it away into a spare bedroom after repotting. LOL... I wonder how long before I hear him hit the roof? Hehe....

LOL! Maybe you could try my strategy -- I have so many orchids and they're so densely packed in our house that my husband usually doesn't notice when I add another.

That's what I'm aiming for... Besides, who couldn't always use another orchid? LOL ;)

Nobody mentioned the Coelogyne species yet. I really love their scent (jasmine, vanilla scents) and they can become quit big plants with dozens of flowers...

Wow S. Kallima!!! that flower is gorgeous!! it evoked so much sensuality the moment I saw it.
