Default Diy moss post

I've decided to make a post for my vanilla orchid to climb up. I will be either wrapping a coco coir sheet around a post/dowel, or filling a tube made of chicken wire with sphagnum moss.

I cant decide. Thoughts?

The Vanilla plant will become very heavy as it grows. Plan accordingly. If it were I, I would use a length of PVC sprinkler pipe as the core, at least 1" / 2.5cm diameter. If that becomes too flimsy you can put a length of rebar inside later.

I want to grow mine up a rope. Thick cotton rope is expensive, and I had some left over sisal cord so I plaited it to make it thick, and the small gaps between the cords will give the aerial rots something to twine round.
Hopefully that will hold enough water for it.
