Default Catesetum potting on? Dividing?

It is that time of year to fill the boards with questions about catesetums. This is my first year to have taken one through dormancy and it time to get it ready for the coming season.

Mine is just starting to grow a new pseudo bulb. I've removed it from the old dry media and it looks like this.

I'm wondering if I should cut off the old roots?

Should I divide the the two old pseudo bulbs off? They are still quite firm, but I don't see any nubbins coming along. I imagine if I divide them the one fat one can easily support the new growth and the two old ones will be able to muster up something?

I've got some just slightly damp moss and time-release fertilizer ready to stuff into some new pots. I don't plan to water them until I see a good several inches of roots heading into the new medium.

I've heard people say to use foam peanuts at the bottom, but I find that makes already top heavy plants even more so and tippy. My plan was to put some heavy rocks in the bottom. Any reason why not?

Catesetum potting on? Dividing? Male
Default

I have heard of people cutting the roots and people leaving them. I personally leave them, so as not to invite in rot. This is just a whim of mine, no evidence.

I would not divide such a small plant.

Rocks in the bottom sounds fine.
