When you see new growth - and especially new roots -starting, repotting would certainly be useful. I would suggest a terra cotta clay pot (for the weight), preferably the low form "fern pot". Don't over-pot (you don't want a lot of empty space). For such a tall plant, you will want to stake it for stability - it is important that a newly repotted plant not wobble, or the new roots won't be able to grab on in their new environment.
You don't say where you live. But looking at the parentage of this plant, it should be fine outside in the spring, once night temperatures are above about 55 deg F (13 deg C)
If you have buds, it would be better to wait until after it blooms, disturbing it at this point may cause you to lose the blooms. In the meantime, you can sit the pot in a larger heavy pot just to hold it up.
When you do repot, if it is in sphagnum moss, small bark would be better. But it may be a month or six weeks before you're ready for that.
