Default Temporary home for new barefoot orchid

So, my dad was in the hospital, and Andy's Orchids was having a bare root orchid sale. I'm glad I had the self-control to only buy 3.

Dendrobium loddigesi is mounted already, but Scaphosepalum species aff. swertifolium (red spot) and Epidendrum jayandellii are both bare root. Do you think they will be OK in these little net pots until I decide if I want to mount or pot them?

The website said they would ship 2/14, but they shipped early and arrived today, probably to take advantage of our warmish weather. I'm glad to have them, but not prepared.

They should be fine as you've set them until you decide. I personally prefer mounting!

Yeah, me too. When I get a new orchid I ask two questions.

1 Can it be mounted? If the answer is NO
2. Why not?

Possibly
3. Are you absolutely sure...?

My orchids from Andy's bare root sale came unexpectedly fast, too, and I ended up doing the same thing. I bought different species but I think yours will be fine. Good luck with the new orchids!

Thanks! I'm leaning toward mounting and using an aquarium to keep the humidity up when the heater is on.

Thanks!

They got here just in time. It was in the 40s all day, and now it is snowing. Ohio weather.

My husband brought them in and unpacked them since he beat me home. He didn't keep the invoice or any papers.

Thankfully he didn't ditch the tags.

As an aside, I didn't buy anything in the bare-root sale. One plant I would consider right now was included, but a month or so ago I bought one already established on a mount, also from Andy's. Over the years I've ordered a pretty large number of plants from Andy, and to a plant they have all been healthy, vigorous plants. I don't think you can go wrong with an orchid from Andy.

When I mount the epidendrum, do the reed-like pseudobulbs point toward the top of the mount or toward the bottom?

It is so floppy.
