Possible Keiki or just a new flower spike?
Default Possible Keiki or just a new flower spike?

I've got several (11 I think) rescue orchids. A couple I bought from Lowe's for just a couple bucks, but most I got from my aunt who didn't want to spend the time to get them to rebloom.
Anyway. I was looking at one of them yesterday and noticed a new little something staring to grow off the cut spike. It doesn't quite look like the flower spike that started on one of my other rescues. So I was wondering if maybe I just struck gold and it is growing a little keiki?
I've attached two pictures. One of the orchid with a new flower spike that has some sweet little buds on it, and one of the orchid with the little growth that I'm not sure what it is yet.

In that position so low on the spike I think a keiki is more likely than a branch spike, and it does look like it could have tiny leaves forming. Compare it to the rather mitten-like shape of the growing tip of the spike. A little more growth and it should be more obvious one way or the other.

Great job on the photography. Showing such clarity on something so small requires skill as well as the right equipment.
