the orchid in the center, yellowish with some purple.

the problem: had a (sorry if my terminology is off) new branch with buds coming in. it broke off. is there anyway to save it? was sold as a 2 branch too, hmpf!

First off, it's a Phalenopsis. As for the spike (the proper term) I would just wait to see. Don't do anything just yet till the whole thing either turns yellow/brown and shrivels or else sends out a new spikelet (as some Phals tend to do.) Patience is key here. Just keep the plant healthy in the mean time.

Hey, you're not seasoned until you've had a spike snap off. Very disturbing, but it happens to all of us at some point in time. The wind knocked over my beautiful phal with a huge spike and it snapped off late August of last year....I have a spike in full bloom that grew from where it snapped off. It's gorgeous and has been in blossom for about two months now. So take heart.
Put the cinnamon on toast for now....yummy!
