Deflasking of Cattleya from Hawaii
Default Deflasking of Cattleya from Hawaii

I got this flask from Big Island, when I was there on vacation, I deflasked 3 weeks ago, I live in new england, so putting it in humidity dome on heat mat, any experienced orchid grower know how many years it will take in suck setting to bloom?

-- I have MSU formula for tap water from kelly's corner, which I am thinking of giving in half of recommended concentration and Organics Rx Sea Kelp 100 Seaweed Fertilizer in water

-- In 3 weeks I noticed some root growth on majority of orchids.

Very nice looking plants. Most Cattleya hybrid seedlings are very vigorous and grow through the year if warm enough, well-lit and well-fertlilized. As on the label, you can expect flowers in 3-5 years. If you provide excellent care, maybe a little sooner - fall 2018 through spring 2019.

I have been told by two expert Cattleya growers they fertilize their seedlings heavily at almost every watering once transplanted to individual pots. Go to Sunset Valley Orchids and read Fred Clarke's recommendations for growing Cattleya seedlings.
