Sphag is not always a bad thing. I grow under lights...and my friend grows in a greenhouse...the plant has never shipped a beat. For some plants it is an ideal media.
Moss is fine, as long as it can breathe well and not restrict air flow. What's wrong about that?
My opinion is, that if you are going to use moss in a plastic pot, you need to be careful with compaction and restricting airflow. Again, what's controversial about that?

I find it a little strange it just bloomed and is now making growth. My C. bractescens begins growing in late winter, and like your plant, bractescens blooms with new growth. I think these need water even during their winter dormancy because the places they come from get regular dew at night.
