Sphag is not always a bad thing. I grow under lights...and my friend grows in a greenhouse...the plant has never shipped a beat. For some plants it is an ideal media.

Moss is fine, as long as it can breathe well and not restrict air flow. What's wrong about that?
My opinion is, that if you are going to use moss in a plastic pot, you need to be careful with compaction and restricting airflow. Again, what's controversial about that?
