Roots turned dark green
I'm curious if my phal is suffering. After I cut it's spike when the flowers started to die, it suddenly had a burst of energy. It grew two new leaves and the roots exploded in its new basket. The roots were bright green while in its plastic pot. I can only assume it had far more humidity in their compared to its basket made of mostly bark and a bit of spagam moss. It's air roots now turned to a dark green and I'm curious if it's a health reason like under watering? I spray the air roots every morning and I submerg the basket in water for a day once a week/week and a half. I know it's getting too much light because the first leaf that grew was a even green, and the second is a really bright green. I cut the light down a bit. Should I worry?

A picture would be helpful. My new roots are usually green until they gain some length.

I soak it for a few hours. I read that some let it their phals sit over night in water once or twice a week. It seemed to do better, that was when I had the explosive root growth. The photos I just took. I watered it a day ago and gave it it's morning spray.

That doesn't look alarming to me. However let's let an expert or two weigh in. I don't grow in baskets.

The roots are a dark green color because they were watered.
I know it's time to water when my orchid's roots turn from a darker green color to a silvery/white color.

The roots are green, I think, because they're wet. They'll lighten as they absorb water and water evaporates.
Do you really submerge the basket for an entire day? I'd worry about that, as it seems far too long. The roots, planting medium, and wood in the basket are going to absorb all the water they can within a few minutes ao after that you're just depriving the roots of air.

I asked the same thing and then edited it out.

It looks fine to me, but it could need more water. I know watering every week and a half at my house would not work at all.

It depends on the humidity and temperatures in your house. Phals like warm temperatures. During the winter in typical home environments they don't grow much - leaves nor roots. The medium should dry between waterings, especially when it's not very warm. Dry roots turn white or very light green. Older roots that have been moist a lot may have a dark green layer of algae on them.
