Cattleya Advice on blooming
Hi! Im new here and hope I found the right group of orchid lovers for advice! I have had Phals for 3 years and finally figured out this year how to rebloom! haha My first stalks are currently growing (Its the best feeling ever) I have 2 Standard Phals, a mini Phal and 2 Cattleyas. Since I figured out the Phals, I havent with the cattleyas...Ive had them both for 7 months maybe, give or take and they seem to be super happy as in growing new roots etc. Im learning the different parts of them now..and if im correct i can see what looks like a flower maybe wanting to come out of the middle of the leaves but it hasnt grown in months...when do these guys bloom? Maybe im just impatient! I live in Pennsylvania and have them in the window with my phals my home is always warm and semi cooler at night, I mist them daily and water about 1 time a week.

Not an expert on phals but what is growing between the leaves might be a sheath. Buds will grow inside it until they get bigger and tear the sheath.
The stage when the buds are forming inside can take moths so a little patience is required.
About watering, catts like to dry between waterings so the watering cycle must be water-dry-water. Depending on youe environment and medium, maybe once a week is too much.

3 more posts to post photos. Where do you live in the US?

Your post count is 3 but you've attached 3 photos. Ok, it seems the 5 posts rule is no longer valid.
Anyway...the decorative pot you have is not very good for most orchids because they like their roots to dry fast and get some air. That pot you closed and avoids all that: water can't come out easily and air won't come in.
Is seems you're using bark as medium. Does it has anything more?

Nope, just orchid bark from the store, i repotted them when i bought them. The bottoms of the pots are open and water flows right out, the roots seem to be doing awesome. I live near the bottom part of PA

A Catt will need much more light than your phals get. I have several I have had for 3 years or so that I still haven't gotten to bloom. Maddening Patience is all I can tell you. Some blooms come out from a sheath and some come out of the leaf without a sheath.
