Seriously tho, cinnamon is a desiccant. It has been known to damage healthy roots so just use it on leaves or pseudo bulbs, not roots.

I don't put cinnamon on live roots, I cut them off at the base and lightly brush on cinnamon with a paint brush (watercolor). I let the plant sit a bit and pot. I never noticed any I'll effects. I think one of the problems for a newbie is that we all have such different methods. I know sometimes all the info overwhelms me.

I don't use the cinnamon on roots, either, not after seeing what it did to the roots of a Cattleya....
