Too much humidity? Male
Default Too much humidity?

Hello! My name is Graham. I am fairly new to growing orchids and I was wondering if there can be too much humidity in the environment.

It really depends on what you are growing. If you are growing Lepanthes or other cloud-forest orchids, you really want high humidity. Many orchids that we grow in our home would actually love higher humidity but will tolerate lower humidity. If you do have high humidity, a fan helps to prevent fungus issues.

The higher your humidity the more air movement you will need. I'm not saying to remove the humidity with air movement, just get the air moving. Stagnant high humidity will lead to rot issues (fungal, bacterial). I'm always pushing to see how high I can get the humidity with the most air movement I can provide without reducing the humidity too much.
