This Phal has been in a downward spiral ever since it finished it's 5month ish bloom. When I finally took it out of it's original container, I noticed severe root rot throughout the entire root system. At the time, I did not have the knowledge to contain the rot and eventually the phal lost all it's roots.
Currently the phal is sitting in a shot glass
sometimes with its bottom submerged in water (only the brown part) and sometimes in very wet moss. I was thinking I would eventually throw this one away when it gets too ugly as I thought there was no hope. One small leaf grew extremely fast (noticeable everyday), and I see an explosion of roots happening on one side! Two visible and 6 new bumps (three of which are almost certainly will be new roots)
I have heard that as new roots grow they tailor the roots best suitable to it's environment.
I want to try to grow this phal in a no-medium method.
When should I do it and how high should the water level be?
(This side had many signs of new root growth.)
(From the other side, also sign of new root bump. You can see all the dead roots below.)
(The entire top leaf grew in a matter of about 4 weeks!)
