Hello! I have an otherwise very healthy orchid but it has very long roots (some of them longer than a foot) and rather thin though not dry. Some of the longer roots actually fork and divide into two parts in the end. I went online to try to see what it was about but did not see any pictures or references to roost "forking" and separating in two at the ends. Any idea?
Thank you!
The "forking" you mentioned is, I think, a normal condition for root growth. I have several plants doing the same, especially dendrobiums and oncidiums and related.
Roots branching as they grow is absolutely normal. Some orchids can get aerial roots many feet long with many branches. The only thing this is "about" is normal healthy growth.
