Fine webs doesn't always mean spider mites...you could just have tiny spiders. I have super tiny spiders (about the size of a pencil point) that live among the orchids.
Spider mites usually cause damage to the leaves before they are so bad that you see webbing. |

I had an attack of spider mites, but didn't realise what it was, so they did some damage.
I got a serious acaricide and burnt the damn things out. No natural remedies for me. |

I've found tiny, fine webs in my countertop greenhouse and upon further checking it was a teenie little spider. Like you, it took the morning sunshine to hit that area just right to even see them.
I removed the webbing to begin with, ready to treat with something and there it was, living inside a tiny clay pot that has holes in it. I believe it's still there just keeping the web to that pot. Look closely, you sure don't want mites to get going! |

Spider webs on my Phal
Upon looking closer this morning, I also notice a lot of tiny white specs on the leaves. These seem to be clustered mostly near the base of the leaves. This looks like dandruff. I haven't used a magnifier on them yet to see what they really are, but will do so tonight.
