Need info on my new Cymbidium Vidar 'Harlequin'
Hi everyone!
I just order a Cymbidium Vidar 'Harlequin' from eBay. I order a near blooming size. But when I receive the plant the pseudobulbs was black and soft. I contact the saler with no response. Anyone grown this cymbidium ? Please help me save this baby.

I'm sorry, but it's dead. There is no chance it will grow. If the seller doesn't respond right away, contact EBay quickly so you can file a claim within the deadline.

Yes, that's what I almost wrote but then, as I was not so sure, I didn't.
It, really, doesn't look good.

There is a lot of information here in the Cymbidium forum. Click on Forums in the menu to the left, then scroll down. There are also many Cymbidium experts here.

That is really a shame. I hope the replacement plant arrives in good health.

I am actually rather shocked that any reputable seller would ship a plant in that condition. Good luck working with them. You have 60 days on ebay to open a complaint case.
Cymbidium culture: very bright light, some protection from mid day direct sun, but other than that, as much light as you can give them. Never let them dry out completely, cymbidiums are terrestrial, so prefer much more water than most other orchids. To set a flower spike, it requires autumn night temps to drop into the 50's.
Good Luck

I hate to be cynical, but I have heard of situations where eBay sellers string things along with E-mail discussions, promises to ship, etc and suddenly it's past the 60-day deadline, so the buyer gets nothing. That's why it needs to be resolved ASAP.
