An additional thought on watering - when you water, do it with enough volume that water flows through the pot and out the bottom. This has a couple of benefits - one, it prevents a buildup of salts from fertilizer and hard water. Two, it pulls air into the root zone. When the plant dries a bit between waterings, that also has the effect of pulling air into the pot, since as it evaporates, the water is replaced by air. The air pulled into the pot helps to keep the roots healthy.
