Drops as opopsed to deluge? Probably better... you would not want to pound them with water (shower or fine spray, not fire hose...) Air movement is always important. All of the Cattleya alliance likes to dry out after watering, and both air movement and excellent drainage accomplish that. I am finding that, at least for me, baskets (or mounting for the smaller ones) work better than pots.
