Hi I'm new,
ThI've visited the sight a few times just for general care answers. This is my first forum post, sorry if i am not doing this right.
I have a jewel orchid, a phal, a bunch of mini brassavolas, a belitia, and a miltoniopsis.
All of them are doing fantastic, after a few hiccups with the phal, which was my first I have finally got the hang of orchid care....... except the miltoniopis.
Its been in SemiHydro since early May and has a great growing root system. But it hasn't done anything other than the roots. no new leaves, no new growths. I thought it was a fast grower. It lost an old leaf last week so maybe i'm just paranoid. Which brings me to the second issue, the roots are growing into the water reservoir should i be worried?

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you

No need to worry about the roots growing into the water reservoir. Just keep the water fresh so the roots don't rot. The roots growing into the reservoir will be adapted for the water.
I do not specifically grow Miltoniopis so I am not sure of the growth pattern. When did it last put out new growths?

Miltoniopsis don't like warm temperatures. How warm is your growing area? How much light do they get?

Thanks for responding!
I am glad to hear about the roots in water! I keep it pretty cool in the house at 68 to 69 degrees Fahrenheit. It is in a westward window in the corner. The foliage is a real nice grassy or silver green.

Oh i forgot to mention that the miltoniopsis cultivar is a "<i>lillian nagamoto tanto<i>" and i am led to believe that its a little more heat resistant than other miltoniopis

I have quite a few orchid growers on youtube that I watch...every single one says Miltoniopsis are soooooooooooooooooooo picky about temps and that they buy them knowing they are going to die...
Here are some links:
I will say she (Astrid) does curse sometimes so I will warn you about that. Also Danni from Orchid Nature...I personally know nothing about that other than they are very picky. You could also post under the Oncidium alliance...Good luck...

When you move a plant into a different potting medium - more so when going to an entirely different cultural technique - it's roots will not be optimal forth at new environment, so will need to be replaced by new ones. The fact that it's doing just that is a great sign!
Be patient. A "fast-growing" orchids is still generally slower than a terrestrial plant.
