Coelogyne mayeriana Help!

I just unpacked this Coelogyne mayeriana. It looks like it has keiki's galore unless that is how it grows. The pot can't stand upright because of the distribution of growth. Do I separate it? Try to find a wider pot to get all those roots in? There is one picture here. I'll attach more from my computer later so they are easier to see.

Pot it up in something bigger. Those teeny weeny pots are forever falling over else.

What do I do about these growths hanging off the side?

It is a plant with long rhizomes. Big pots or big mounts..

Okay, thanks! I will see what I can do. I just wasn't expecting it to be exploding out of its pot like this.

The description said 6" pot... I guess technically it is in a 6" pot but geeze.

You can't be too rich, too thin, or have too many roots.

I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to get the all the roots into one pot. It's going to have to be a very large pot, I'm thinking at least 14" unless I can somehow get the risomes to flex enough to wrap back around the plant since it is so lopsided.

can it be divided?

And this is a great example of why...even though I love most coels...I've gotten rid of all but one. Like many bulbos, many of these guys are ramblers and very hard to keep in a pot. Space hogs.

Love them and the flowers...but for the spacially challenged...they are hard to accommodate.

You might want to consider a net pot/basket and this way you can attach the rambly growths to the outside of the basket and in time...it will completely cover that basket.

Thanks Katarina, I will go find an appropriate basket. That way it can have all the space it wants hanging from my ceiling

Behold. The great Coel repot is complete. That was quite an adventure, it was very pot bound. It probably hates me right now but hopefully it will thank me in the future. Not sure where it will live yet. Too much direct sun out here.
