Just got this one! It's been IDd as miniatum but someone told the grower its actually curvifolium. He said the flowers are an intense yellow, almost orange. What might it be? How can I tell? Do I have to wait until it blooms again? Could it be garayi or aurantiacum? Also, there are some black spots on the leaves, he just said it's from having water on the leaves, tho. Could it be phyllosticta? I'm hoping not; it doesnt seem too bad, though.

In my experience the leaves of curvifolium usually do curve significantly. I'm not sure I see that here.

Without flowers no definitive ID can be made, and color alone doesn't help much. Some additional pictures could be helpful - something showing the overall form of the plant and full leaf length from the side, and close-ups of a couple leaf tips. Also a length measurement of a couple of the longest leaves.

Here are some more shots of the plant. The longer leaves are all about 7" long. The old flower stems are 6" long.

Thanks for the help!

I'm not an expert on these, but the curvifoliums I've seen have much tighter, more rigid leaves, and are smaller plants than this.

So what do you think it could be?

Miniatum really is. I think it's neither of the things you mentioned. It could be any hybrid or species Vanda in the world.

Miniatum has straight leaves, 3-4" long. Curvifolium has somewhat curved leaves, 7-9" long.

Std curvifolium has reddish orange flowers, but also comes in a somewhat rare flavum form with pure yellow flowes.

Plant photo is 99.5% typical of Curvifolium.

Great, thank you! Any idea as to the spots on it?

Vandas get that sort of spots, when they are not in optimum condition. If you take good care of it, they should not spread.
