Lets get few things straights....

I was just wondering… is there anyone who could possibly `lecture` me about what does this mean, please? :

For example from IOSPE PHOTOS encyclopedia – Papphiopedilum bullenianum,
Just underneath of its photo is written:
` Papphiopedilum bullenianum [Rchb.f] Pfitzer 1894 Subgen Paphiopedilum Sec. Barbata [Kranzlin] Albert & Pett`

Obviously First is the name of the plant, then you have 2 names of botanists one in square brackets. What do these names mean? Who discovered them? Who described them? Who registered them? Or could it be possibly the name of the register or herbarium where the informations were first entered? And also the year after: is it a year it has been discovered? Registered?

There is probably someone here with more accurate info (jump in Li'l Frog), but my recollection is that the species was identified, described and named by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach, (with the "f" indicating the son [f for the latin, filius], as his father was also an early European "plant person"), and was confirmed by the taxonomist Pfitzer in 1894. The taxonomists Albert and Pett classified the species into the "subgenus" section "Barbata" which had been identified (created) by Kranzlin.
