Does this look like it's begun the blooming process?
Default Does this look like it's begun the blooming process?

Good afternoon!

I of course, have lost the tag.

I am trying to learn the growing cycle. I am wondering if the browning sheath and the growing of the leaves are signs of the beginning of blooming.

Thanks!

Do you see anything from the top? A sheath or buds?

I'm also learning the blooming cycle of cattleyas and also have a bifoliate exactly at the same stage (see pics here, just scroll down).

Before the buds appear you should see a sheath in between the two new leaves.

Just a thought...a journal of a plants progress has been beneficial to me over the yrs and if the label is lost,I can identify it thru the written word. But with yours,I start looking for the sheath.

It looks like a fairly small plant. It may not be large enough to bloom this year. If it is, you should very soon see either a sheath or a spike without a sheath from the centre of the 2 leaves that are opening up.
