New Onc. Spent spike, to trim or not to trim?
Got lucky at home Depot and got an oncidium rosy sunset 'F' with 6! Spikes. One spike has already bloomed and has dried flowers on it but they haven't fallen off yet. Should I wait until they fall off until I cut the spike? Roots look good, in mostly sphag with some bark pieces, some accordion leaves and shriveling of pbulbs but overall healthy plant. I have good luck with onc. in sphag, esp outdoors in the FL heat.

Nice find, Misa! I would cut it back, too. I am no expert, but I don't think you are going to see any branching or new buds there, like you might on a phal. I would also repot it as soon as you are able and keep it by itself until you are sure there are no pests or diseases being carried along.
I love these type of orchids. I have a similar one that has the absolute sweetest fragrance. Does yours have a scent?

The flowers started falling off so I went ahead and cut it. It's quite a large Onc., about a ft. tall and flowers about an inch long, about 10? Pbulbs

Thank you for the advice, is it safe to repot while it's blooming? It does have a nice scent, described online as 'vanilla', I'd describe it as 'sweet vanilla' with some slight floral notes that I can't place. It has a stronger scent in the morning, intoxicating, really. Combined with the sweet pink color of the blooms, I knew it was coming home with me lol Boyfriend put up a bit of a fight at first but he'll soon learn!
