Hello everyone! I ordered and received a catasetum orchid about a month ago and when it came it was super shriveled. I planted it in sphagnum moss and have watered regularly. It has only one past pseudobulb (about 6-7 inches tall) and while it plumped up a lot, the top started yellowing. Also worth mentioning, the growth hasnt done anything at all. It's about 6 inches and has not grown even the smallest amount. What am I doing wrong? Is it still adjusting to new conditions?

P.s.
The orchid is in a bright south-facing windowsill. I have also checked for rot and havent found any

If you could post a picture or two, it would be very helpful. A thousand words and all that.

Also, how often are you watering? Are you fertilising? With what and how much? What are your lighting conditions like? How's your humidity?

Purpoh - Where do you live? Is it early summer, or early winter?

No leaves = no watering. If your leafless pbulb is dormant...watering at that time can cause the bulb to rot.

No water during dormancy and it's best to hold off watering until the new growth has roots that are at least 4" long.

Thank you for replying! Its in the summer here and the orchid is completely out of dormancy. The new growth has 5 or so leaves and this is why i'm worried

Catasetinae Plant Culture:
Cycnoches, Catasetums, Mormodes, and Clowesia

There's a good chance the plant was watered too early in the season. Each of the new roots emerging should be 3"-5" long before the heavy summer watering and fertilizing begins. Before that, no water.

Ok thank you! I'll keep a careful watch on it and water more cautiously.
