Mine grow fine in a North window, although there are East windows in the room too so the room itself is well lit. You could pull it back or hang a light piece of material from that window until more tree shade is available. Or if you have space, just find a different place to grow it. Save the south window for a high light orchid

Help- NoID Phal getting corrugated leaves??
Default

A similar thing happened to one of my Phals. The leaves got all leathery after I repotted it (from the store pot) and had to remove a bunch of roots. As a last stitch effort I potted it in a small plastic pot with no holes in the sides and started soaking it for waterings. Eventually the leaves perked up. The pot is disproportionately small for the plant but since there weren't many roots I think it needed that. I also moved it to an east windowsill. It put out two new leaves which were much smaller than they should have been and the next year flowered, albeit weakly.

ETA. I forgot that it also put out an insane amount of roots. Here is a link to the thread where everyone on here gave me so much fantastic advice that I was able to help it pull through.

Hope that helps some. Good luck!

My phals are growing in a south faced window but with shades. That was the way I've found to get warm temps in winter... But I keep them always there but never get direct sunlight. I guess they're adapted.
Anyway, for a recovering plant sudden changes in the environment for worse ( or extremes) are not adviseable.

What a difference week makes! Whatever was/is going on with this plant, I guess all those flowers pushed it over the edge. It is responding nicely to living in a tall vase with water in the bottom, and having daily root soaks. And the flowers are in a vase of their own so I can still enjoy them
