I know I can put plants in other locations and move them in once they bloom. But everything I have read says that north facing windows are verboten when it comes to Orchids. So I thought there might be an exception to this out there.

What country/state/province/territory/parish do you live in?
It's heading toward summer here in the North (no matter what they keep telling us on GoT) and an unsheltered north-facing window could be a pretty harsh environment to a number of orchid species.
I live in Florida and a north-facing window would be a lot hotter for a lot longer then a north-facing window in a New England state.
Just a consideration....
