We have a huge Epidendrum, currently flowering with 3 spikes. The plant was in almost perfect condition. A couple of days ago my wife was watering the plants when she noticed this:




Our first thought was sunburn, but we've actuality had it inside since it started flowering, in order to enjoy the flowers a bit more, and it's not been exposed to any direct sun at all (unlike when it was outside, where it got an hour or so of direct late afternoon sun every day).
What I can see of the roots look fine, though I've not taken it out of its pot to check fully:

One the new growths has a black tip, too:

What could have done this? The only changes its had to its care is lower light level...
