I just bought an orchid last Saturday from a vender at an orchid show. However, it looks like it's dying.
It's psychopsis mariposa alba orchid.
The orchid looks dry. What should I do? please help!!!!
I'm not sure why you think its dying. These don't have fleshy moist feeling leaves like Phals. They are very firm but have an almost dry more leathery feel. Hard to describe. I have one and it seems to like to be watered fairly often. Is yours sitting in a glass dish with no drainage? If so, you may end up with root rot. You may also want to re-pot it. Keep it in a fairly small pot with good drainage. I used a fine bark and sphag mix, but use what works for your conditions. Since these have large broad leaves, they likely transpire a lot of moisture so don't let them completely dry out. At least that's what I do for mine and it has 4 bloom spikes and several new leaves growing.
Hi, I only put it in the glass for decoration. The orchid itself sits in a plastic pot with many holes at the bottom. After I watered it, and all the water drained out, I would put the orchid pot it in that glass to look nice. The orchid doesn't sit in water at all. Plus I only have it for 3 days. The shrivelled and wrinkled pseudobulbs worry me .
My older pseudobulbs are wrinkled like that too. I think it is fairly normal. Can you see if there are any good roots? And does the media seem to be in good condition? Can I ask what vendor you bought it from? Was it potted when you got it?
I asked the vendor if I should repot it when I get home. He told me the orchid was repotted recently before getting to the orchid show. He said it's good for a two years.
However, the roots on the top looks dead and dry. I have no idea if the roots below the surface were ok

A lot of plants in the Oncidium group get wrinkled pseudobulbs with time. Some of them wrinkle if they don't get enough water, and some wrinkle no matter what you do.
Your plant doesn't look unhealthy. If the vendor said it was just repotted, it might not have had time to grow new roots in the new medium.
If you use the search function in the top maroon menu bar on the word Psychopsis you will find a lot of threads dealing with how to grow this kind of plant.
