Default healthy new inflorescence turning yellowish

i have a phal. that looks very healthy. strong root system, in bud with one flower open and 9 in development. the open flower fell off as are the remaining buds one at a time. typical bud blast, right? BUT, the inflorescence is turning yellowish. i have not moved the plant to a new location (nor do i ever until it is in FULL bloom). i feel that i am familiar with bud blast and do all i can to protect my plants from it. but this has me stumped, especially when the already blooming flower appeared to be healthy and was shed anyway. what gives? driggs.

Could be the weather. I know mine is suffering as well. While Phals may take a bit of coolness at night in order to set spikes, they are still warm growers. With all the cold weather we have had, I am trying a heat mat under the Phals (a mat meant for seed germination) to see if bottom heat will save the spike. So far it has, but it still looks weird, and shorter than normal. Last winter was milder so spike developed correctly. This is just a guess on my part.

there is an off shoot on the inflouresces that has 5 buds as well. it is still green and as of now seems uneffected. in addition, there are still 5 developing buds that are green on the main spike. i will wait to see if they too will meet their demise. would you suggest cutting the spike (first waiting to see what happens of course)? so strange. thanks for the input, ross. d.

I'd just leave the spike and hope for the best. If you can keep the daytime heat about 70 that might help.
