Default what kind of pot should i use?

hi, i was going to put my orchid in a decorative pot while keeping it in its current pot. Its pot at the moment is transparent while the one i intend to buy isn't. Does the pot need to be transparent? thanks guys

Transparent roots allow you to see the roots. It is up to you. Many transparent pot can fit inside a decorative one. Many decorative ones might be painted with things that are toxic to your plant, just be aware. In any pot, good drainage is very important.

As a newbie myself I prefer to use clear pots so I can keep up with how my orchid's roots are progressing. I do keep several of my clear pots set inside of the decorative ones. More would be displayed that way if I already had the right size decoratives.

Since no one sells clear pots locally specifically for growing plants in, I find suitable sized ones from the chain stores & Dollar stores around in the dish & cup isles.

Thanks a lot I intend to keep them in the same pot so I can see the roots at will by just lifting. I was unsure on whether or not the roots require light to gain nutrients
Thanks guys

The choice of the pot is a personal preference rather than a requirement of the plant. Most of my orchids including Phalaenopsis are in unglazed terracotta pots. A few Phals are in plastic net pots, some set down inside opaque plastic. None are in clear plastic pots. The healthiest root systems are in the terracotta pots, which is why I mostly use those (better drainage IMO).

I personally don't need to see the roots in the pot to know if they are healthy, but if having a clear plastic pot is helpful to you, then that is a good reason to choose clear plastic.
