Should I bring a peloric orchid to an orchid society meeting?
Hi all,
This is only my second post, so, hello!
I've gotten into orchids within the past few years, and when I say I've gotten into them, well... I've really gotten into them. Most of you probably understand.
Anyway, I've recently started going to orchid society meetings - awesome sales, interesting talks, friendly people, etc.
Every month, people bring their blooming orchids in for the show table.
I have a mini, fully peloric phalaenopsis that I got at a random gift shop in a subway station because I thought it was way cute. The thing is, it's doing AMAZINGLY. After the initial shock of coming home in the cold (after which it dropped all but one of its flowers), 6 months later, it's putting out new buds from its old spike, and is sending up not one, not two, but THREE additional new spikes!!
I would post pictures but I don't think I'm allowed yet.
Anyway, to get to the point, would I be frowned upon for bringing a peloric, no ID, phalaenopsis orchid to the display table? I'm not sure what the general consensus is on these orchids. Will I be committing a faux pas or breaking some unwritten rule, or will the enthusiastic blooming of the orchid cancel that out?
Thank you
Sandy
*edit* I've added some photos! The flower is actually quite faded, and was much yellower in its prime. You can see the buds forming on the old stalk. The third new stalk is too tiny to photograph and is hiding in a leaf crevice, so I didn't take a picture. I also forgot to mention that on top of all this, it's growing a leaf! Magical!
I also included a picture of my setup for good measure. It's in front of a window but it's still dark here.

Welcome, cmoonbeam! Just make a few random posts in other threads, or this one for that matter, and then you will be able to post pics.
Regarding the question about the peloric NOID phal, it would be welcome at my orchid society. People are always interested in seeing something different, and there may be some people who would find this a learning opportunity. Go for it!

Most people have a few NoIDs so I doubt any society would discourage bringing them. Most societies are too desperate to bring in and hang on to members to get snobby about this. And I can't imagine that a peloric would ever be a problem anywhere. Go for it, proudly.

Welcome! Yes, please post photos. Some people seem to be able to attach them before 5 posts.
Anyone can show whatever orchid they like at our meetings and it is welcome. We are just happy to see a newcomer get up and show something. For some reason it is usually the same few always showing and telling. More would be better.

Thank you for all your prompt and kind replies, everyone! The internet can be a scary place. :S
It's good to know my little guy would likely be welcome. I mean, who could reject him? He's so cute!
I will definitely post photos when I can!

I'll just say welcome to the board as I have no experience with an orchid society. I don't have one any where near me at least that I know of. Your set up looks nice.

Welcome to the community! I'm always looking for the unusual and pelorics can spice up any collection. If the purists don't approve...!
