As post title says really.
Im in the uk and its been dull and cold and generally not that nice but iv managed to keep all my phals doing ok (my first orchids) and my dend has new growth too and had a small bloom of 5 flowers. My oncidium is healthy but not put much new growth. What have people in the uk had success with as i would like to expand my collection lol but my bedroom is north facing and quite sheltered by a large tree so i have them all in the other side of the house so was toying with the idea of lights for my room to have them but not sure as its more expense and i cant find anything i feel is perfect as i would like something i could stick under a shelf or something.

You may want to reconsider having lights in your bedroom if you want to sleep in it. Not only will you need the lights on for about 15 hours you will probably need a fan and increase the humidity as well. Orchids and humans do not make good bedfellows.

I don't grow under lights but just grow on windowsills.

North facing - phalaenopsis
East facing - zygos
South facing - vandas and catasetums
West facing - oncidiums
