Why does my Phal leaf have a vertical striation? Female
Default Why does my Phal leaf have a vertical striation?

Hello, I bought my first orchid three days ago so I don't know know much about them yet. I can't post photos yet but I have a question about why one of the leaves has a vertical striation on it. It is the same color as the rest of the leaf but I am concerned.

I am going to repot it as soon as my supplies arrive because there are a couple of dead roots but overall the roots look very healthy.

Does this mean that there will be a problem with it in the future? I haven't noticed it until today.

Suggestion GracefulFlower, make 4 more quick posts, anything anywhere. If I remember correctly, 5 posts, then you can upload pics.
I found this limitation very frustrating when I first joined the forum.

That's how I cured it.
Now, more often than not, I upload elsewhere and just add links to display them here.

True about the 5 posts but I do see some newcomers 'attaching' photos on their first post. Try the paper clip when you 'Go Advanced" It may work.

That just looks like mechanical damage. Easy to do when they are packed and unpacked in stores and then packed and hauled home. It should be fine. Just watch that it doesn't change in appearance. If it turns black or brown and starts spreading, you will want to quickly use a sterilized knife or tool and cut into healthy tissue and remove that part. But I doubt that will happen on this.
