I would probably fertilize less (once a month) and water more if possible. You probably already know that water supply in your area is mostly groundwater, with quality ranging from OK to terrible (total dissolved solids over 2000 ppm in some wells = terrible for orchids, it shouldn't be over 200 ppm and much lower is better). Still, it might be worth checking with your city water department and ask what the dissolved solids content might be. In the long run, it may be worth investing in a reverse osmosis unit to make quality water, rather than buying all of that distilled water.

All of our drinking water comes from a local lake. I do know that the pH level of the water is high, 7.8 -> 8.3. I'll have to take a look at the reverse osmosis systems. I thought they were really expensive but I just took a quick look and saw some that weren't.
