Mounted orchid workstation project.
One of the things I always love is when you find a solution for a problem.
Working on mounted orchids, fixing them on or doing repairs is awkward, and there's the risk of snapping a lead spike off if you are unlucky and the damn thing falls over or slips out of your grasp.
Having done just that, I was wondering if it were not possible to do something about it. Find a way to work on such mounts without snapping a lead, and raising my blood pressure.
The solution would be, hang the damn thing where you can work on it, making sure that it is in the shade. The problem is that such a structure would then get in the way.
Fortunately, I have bars at the shade end of the greenhouse, so I was able to weld this up to hook on, and then just lift off to store.
The gibbet, as it were works a treat. I cursed when I went to use it that there wasn't a hook to hold the reel of braided line and then I realised that I could slide the reel up the centre shaft and let it drop back onto the horizontal bar.
Now I appreciate that not everyone will have the same setup, but with a bit of ingenuity, it is possible to build something like this. For example, two eyebolts vertically fitted will take the vertical rod, and two bits at the top will stop it swinging from side to side.
The job of repairs to the mounted orchid was the smoothest and easiest that I have done so far, and I am delighted with it.

and while you have the welder out, why not fix another problem?
As the Stans soak up a huge amount of water without it washing thru, I worry about salt buildup. I can give them a good run thru with RO water, but that will flood the floor.
The bars that support the gibbbet will also serve to hang a bar across with a hook in the middle, and the water can run through and then straight into the drain.

Ingenious!
You should rent yourself out for handiwork. You'd make a fortune.

Thank you. Yeah, it makes the job so much easier.. Normally you need one hand for the mount, another to wrap the moss, and a third to wind the thread...

Or start selling your projects. You already have one buyer itching to purchase your very cool shallow pots. Do they have "Shark Tank" in Spain?

Dragon's Den is Canadian Version
Shark Tank is American
TV shows. Five venture capitalists (the Sharks/ Dragons) listen to pitches from entrepreneurs and inventors on their businesses and products and invest in those they think they can make money with.
