Finally settled into new growing environment
Default Finally settled into new growing environment

I moved my plants from Boston to LA in August of last year, and I was out of town from the beginning of October through the end of December, so my plants were only getting the bare minimum of care during that time. I've tossed a few things that really just didn't adjust well (or didn't tolerate the amount of time it's taken me to adjust!), but I think things are finally settled in now and I have the hang of my new growing space.

The NOID phal I bought the first day in my new home is reblooming;

my Leptotes bicolor is blooming for the first time since the move;

and a NOID phal I brought from Boston has buds (rear right--the one in front I bought recently).

I didn't go S/H here at first and just used LECA as a regular substrate, but it's so dry that I went back to S/H and I think it's the way to go for me long-term. I'm babying a few things in sphagnum that I will put in S/H once they're established, but everything else is in S/H.

One thing I've been surprised about is how many leaves that NOID phal on the rear left has retained. It has 5 sets of leaves. It grew some and didn't drop any since I bought it in August. I've never had a phal keep that many.

Happy growing everyone!

Nice. I bought a Lepotes bicolour recently, so it's nice to see that it looks good in real life, and not just in a dealer's pics.

It is surprisingly small and reminds me of fancy green beans almost all the time--so much so that I often have a vague feeling of wanting to eat it. But it is a tough little plant and has put up with basically whatever I've thrown at it.

That Leptotes bicolor will do great outside, if it isn't already there.

Hi,
i like how you've arranged your phalaenopsis.
It is simple and elegant, but I think I see that behind in the middle there is space for one more plant
Ciao Nicola
