Will be receiving my new orchid in a few days that I purchased from the internet. I don't know what it will be planted in, if anything. I have some extra disposable pots and have ordered Orchid mix just in case.
What should I be looking for when it arrives, and what would be the advice you could give?
Probably, your current and future questions have already been answered. It's just a matter of finding them. Since you have time before the plant's arrival, read up.
There are very helpful threads that have been stickied at the top of the Beginner Discussion section. In particular, browse through The Phal abuse ends here thread. It will help you anticipate your plant's condition and needs.

Welcome! You're very smart to look up your plant's care before it arrives. They're not hard to care for, but they won't survive being treated like a generic house plant.
We look forward to seeing photos of your flowers.

My Phalaenopsis came today in a 4" pot. It has five well-established leafs; two are about a foot tall. It came potted in a chunky bark mix and the root system is abundant and "white." There are some roots coming out the bottom, but my Orchid Mix hasn't arrived.
